Educates on Future of EHR, the Medicare EHR Incentive and Meaningful Use Requirements
DES MOINES, Iowa (October 6, 2011)—Dr. Steven J. Kraus, acknowledged EHR expert and founder and CEO of Future Health software (creators of eConnect and Virtual Office Suite) recently spoke in Portland, Ore., at the American Chiropractic Association's (ACA) annual House of Delegates meeting.
Dr. Kraus addressed the delegates about the future of EHR (electronic health records), particularly pertaining to the chiropractic profession. Additionally, Dr. Kraus reviewed the benefits chiropractors can receive from the Medicare EHR Incentive and discussed the timely issue of impending Meaningful Use requirements.
Said Kraus, "The leaders of the profession are making significant decisions to help advance the profession of chiropractic ... and a big part of that is implementing electronic health records and software in their clinics plus staying on top of rules surrounding electronic health records, billing requirements and more. Software like Future Health eConnect can help doctors stay current and compliant while becoming more successful."
The House of Delegates, the governing body for the ACA, meets annually to provide an educational conference where participants can learn from the leaders in the chiropractic profession.
About the Medicare EHR Incentive
The Medicare EHR Incentive offers chiropractors up to $44,000 over five years for implementing a certified EHR system within their practice. These incentives are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The amount received is based on Medicare-allowed charges submitted during the payment year or payment time frame. Chiropractors receive 75 percent of their eligible Medicare-allowed charges, up to the maximum limit for a certain payment year.
Future Health developed eConnect, a Cloud-based EHR software, with a guaranteed EHR/ARRA Certification App to help chiropractors qualify for the Medicare incentive.
Future Health was the first company to guarantee Complete certification of its software—a requirement to qualify for up to $44,000 in Medicare EHR incentives. Additionally, Dr. Kraus was instrumental in getting doctors of chiropractic included in the incentive.
