DES MOINES, Iowa (May 21, 2012)—Future Health announced today its EHR (electronic health records) software was chosen as the preferred EHR for performing DOT physical exams by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA)/TeamCME accredited training organization.
As such, Future Health has developed a specialized App for both drivers and examiners to easily and efficiently complete DOT physicals online.
The ACA and TeamCME training fulfills the federal requirement to become certified in the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners in order to perform medical exams for commercial drivers. Doctors of Chiropractic can register for ACA DOT Training Seminars online at www.acatoday.org/seminars.
New DOT rule effective today, May 21, affecting DCs as medical examiners
"The DOT will require that DCs become certified examiners in order to perform DOT physicals," said Dr. Steven Kraus, founder and CEO of Future Health. "So we worked with the accredited provider to create an official, web-based medical examination report for commercial driver fitness determination, called the 'DOT Physical Exam App' developed with TeamCME."
Why the "DOT Physical Exam App"?
"This App is for providers who want digital records, along with the ability for drivers to complete their health history ahead of time using a mobile device like a laptop, desktop computer, iPad or other mobile tablet … or in-clinic via any of those devices … using Future Health software," Kraus continued.
According to Kraus, the "DOT Physical Exam App":
Why TeamCME chose Future Health as an exclusive EHR provider
According to TeamCME President Dr. Michael Megehee, chose Future Health for three main reasons.
"We chose Future Health not only because of its affordability for DCs, but also because Future Health is consistently using the latest technology," said Megehee. "With Future Health, we don't have to worry about an outdated platform negatively affecting TeamCME doctors. TeamCME and Future Health are dedicated to innovation and to keeping our members ahead of the pack."
Added Megehee, "The 'DOT Physical Exam App' creates efficiencies for the DC, the driver and office staff, as well as helping DCs generate additional income for their clinics."
Megehee went on to say that Future Health's dedication to the Chiropractic profession is another key factor for their exclusive partnership.
TeamCME, LLC, an Oregon Limited Liability Company, is a national network of DOT medical examiners that provides a Web-based clinic location map system for drivers to find certified DOT physical examiners with online scheduling capability for providers of DOT Medical Exams, alcohol and drug testing. TeamCME is a "One Stop Shop" for physicians, enabling them to offer the full spectrum of DOT-related services from alcohol testing to sleep apnea screening. TeamCME members offer unparalleled convenience and guidance to their clients for DOT related services.
